Matariki Soup

After the holidays it was time to harvest our Matariki garden. We decided to make soup! Click on the link below to see us hard at work. After we had finished picking, cleaning and cutting our veges we cooked them and then we ate our soup! It was very nice. Some of us had more than three cups of soup.

Our Matariki Garden

Today we went to see our garden and we discussed ideas for what we could do with our vegetables.
We could make vegetable biscuits. (Toby)
We could make a vegetable salad. (Kadin)
We could make a yummy vegetable soup. (Amy-Lee)
We could have a salad sandwich. (Connor)
We could make them into a smiley face vegetable face on our plate and eat them. (Taegan)
We could make vegetable, bacon and egg pie. (Amea)
We could have broccoli pie. (Leah)
We could make a vegetable pie. (Leanna)
We could make vegetable muffins. (Haillin)

Yum!

Now we have to choose?

Planting Peas

We planted pea seeds.

After a few days we started to see the plant growing.

Our plants are getting bigger every day.

This is what our plants looked like two weeks after we first planted the seeds.

Matariki

We have been learning about Matariki in Room 11 and 12. We have planted our very own Matariki plants. Our plants are growing fast so get a spot in the garden ready because we will be bringing our plants home soon. We also planted our very own Matariki garden in our school garden down by the field. We check these plants to make sure the snails and bugs haven't eaten them every second day. We completed our Matariki celebrations with a shared lunch. This was a great way to end the week.
